Recently I had the opportunity to sit down with the lovely and talented actress, model, and burlesque performer; Tiffany Loretta Carroll.
What made you decide to become an actress?
I randomly stumbled into it and thought I should continue if people still wanted to hire me. At this point it is a decision because I enjoy having hobbies that are fun and that others enjoy as well.
2. What was your first film?
Blood Slaughter Massacre. I played Stephanie, a mean girl who was more interested in sex than partying with her friends.
3. What was your reaction to seeing yourself on film for the first time?
Every emotion imaginable. Happy, nervous, shy, surprised and proud.
4. What is a dream role for you?
To play Jeff Goldblum's love interest in any movie.
5. What are some of your favorite horror films?
Rosemary's Baby, Vincent Price's House On Haunted Hill, The Shining, Poltergeist, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, Tusk.
6. You have been referred to as a scream queen. What do you think makes an actress a scream queen?
To be a scream queen, one has to spend alot of time screaming in movies and be good at it. Give people goosebumps on set while filming and while watching the movie.
7. Who inspires you?
In the horror world, Jack Nicholson always impressed me with how he could go in and out of character so easily when the camera stopped rolling. In the non-horror world, Al Pacino. He was/is so charismatic.
8. What are you currently working on?
Just wrapped up a horror comedy short film titled Balls For Brooklyn about two guys who decide to open up an italian food themed street food cart which goes morbidly wrong.
9. You are also a burlesque performer. How would one get started?
Best way to get started is to have a couple acts and enter into lesser known troupes as a solo performer to get the stage experience.
10. Tell me about how you got started with Dead Dollies.
I started modeling with them from before the birth of Dead Dollies. It was only natural to jump on board with the project.
11. What is some advice you'd give to a female who wants to becone an actress? Some advice I would give is, sign on to movies because you have a good vibe about it and you like the script. Do not make a decision based on how much you will get paid. Set your rate but have fun too. Not worth it if its not fun.
12. How do you feel about the current trend of females taking more of role in the horror genre as directors and writers?
I think its great. People are realizing that us women are smart and can do things other than scream and die if we want to. Nothing better than being the captain of your own ship.

Witches Blood With Joe Parascand
I’m honored to have a special guest on my blog today. Joe Parascand has not only produced movies, but stars in them too. I met Joe through mutual friends who own and design fabulous Steampunk clothing. Their site is Steampworks.com. They told me about Joe and that he was one of the actors in a new type of zombie movie called The Soulless. You can find the interview I did with The Soulless Director and Producer, Christopher Eilenstine on Biff Bam Pop. But today we’re going to ask Joe about his character Sheriff Tom.
Marie Gilbert: Joe, I’m so happy to have you as a guest and I guess my first question is how you came up with the character Sheriff Tom and who did you base this character on?
Joe Parascand: Sheriff Tom is Ryan Scott Weber’s creation (as is Mary Horror) – I just brought him to life. I just thought of him (going by Ryan’s great script) as a Clint Eastwood type who’s on the wrong side of the law (at least most of the time)- a guy who’s got a very high opinion of himself and doesn’t like being crossed.
Marie Gilbert: When did the character, Sheriff Tom, first appear on the movie screen? Which film? Tell us how you developed the character for each film and is he more Governor (David Morrissey) or Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln)?
Joe Parascand: First, Sheriff Tom was a villain in the first film of the trilogy called Mary Horror. Then he evolved into more of a maniac out for revenge against Mary Horror by the end of that first film and finally into a monster in both Sheriff Tom vs the Zombies and Witches’ Blood. In the latter 2 films, however, he became more of an anti-hero.
Second, I have never watched The Walking Dead so I have no idea as to how the Governor let alone any of their other characters behaves on that show-so I would not compare Sheriff Tom to any of them.
Marie Gilbert: You’ve just finished working with Director Ryan Scott Weber on Witches’ Blood, what role did Sheriff Tom play in that film?
Joe Parascand: Like in Sheriff Tom vs the Zombies, part 2 of Mary Horror trilogy, Sheriff Tom is back as a monster and doing his own killing. As the Mary Horror character, herself, is now back in the flesh for the final film of the trilogy called Witches’ Blood, Mary has stolen the spell book from Sheriff Tom and it’s now up to the Sheriff both to retrieve the spell book as well as to stop Mary who, with the book, could become unstoppable. Without providing spoilers, some nice twists and turns as well as a wonderful climax make Witches’ Blood the fitting ending to a great trilogy.
Marie Gilbert: Will we be seeing more of Sheriff Tom in future films?
Joe Parascand: It looks like Witches’ Blood will be the last film featuring Sheriff Tom Walker. You could also see him in Season 1 of Zombies Incorporated, a comedy TV Series (DVDs have been up for sale since October 2013) which takes place prior (time-wise) to the films of Mary Horror trilogy and in Season 2 of the same series if it were to be shot in 2014.
Marie Gilbert: If people are interested in seeing Mary Horror or Sheriff Tom vs the Zombies, where is it showing or is it on DVD?
Joe Parascand: Here is the site where they can order DVDs for Mary Horror, Sheriff Tom vs the Zombies, and Season 1 of Zombies Incorporated http://weberpicturesstore.bigcartel.com
Thank you, Joe Parascand, for visiting with me and my followers. It was a pleasure having you as a guest and learning about you and your character, Sheriff Tom Walker and, to all my followers, keep your eye on a rising star and check out the films mentioned on this blog.

Stephanie Anders:

I recently sat down for an interview with Stephanie Anders, who with Scarlett Storm, make up Gruesome Twosome. A horror burlesque act that currently plays New Jersey, she has acted in such projects as Zombie Girlfriend, Sheriff Tom vs. The Zombies(the sequel to Horror Mary. Directed by Crash Romeo drummer Ryan Baker). And her latest project is Call Girl of Cthulu,. Director Chris LaMartina’s Lovecraftian horror comedy.
At first glance she seems very much like the girl next door type, bearing a strong resemblance to Kate Hudson. Blonde, fresh faced, almost always smiling. She likes to ride motorcycles, hang out at the pub. She likes a good steak. She likes The X-Files. Then, when you get her by herself, the smile remains. But you can see the faint glimmer of darkness in her eyes. The horror girl comes out. Wearing a gaming headset(her speakers broke. Come on, guys make this more common. Women with gaming headsets on are sexier, proven fact.) We chatted about her life her work, and some of her influences…
Tell us about you. What got you into horror?
Just always been a horror girl. When I was little, I used to get all the books about Frankenstein and the Wolfman, when my class went to the library.
Those old, orange books {from Crestwood house?}
Yes, exactly(For more on these wonderful books visit here. For kids of all ages.
(http://www.rue-morgue.com/2010/09/cryptic-collectibles-a-tribute-to-the-creeptastic-crestwood-house-monster-series-books/ ) I got to a point where I ran out, there was like nothing left. I read so much about vampires, I was terrified when I was a kid. I was scared to death of vampires
Vampires are your favourite monsters then?
Yes. They always used to scare me. I read all about them. This is the beauty of a child’s mind. Before I went to bed at night, I used to tie a little blanket around my neck. Like ‘you can’t come in and bite my neck. You can’t get me’. The logic is flawless. Like a vampire would come into my room and be all like ‘Damn, I can’t get through.’ And leave all angrily and go somewhere else.
So, you must hate Twilight
I do, I do. True Blood, I like though. Because it has all the adult themes, violence, gore, and sex. All the good things vampires are all about. I mean, they’re not like Lestat or anything. But, they’re not shimmering and twelve.
That’s right, only David Bowie and Elton John are allowed to sparkle.(She laughs)Bowie can do whatever he wants, he was born to sparkle.
While discussing films, Nathan Fillion’s name came up and she told me that she had recently seen and liked Slither. When I mentioned that it makes a good double feature with Night of the Creeps, she says something no woman has ever said to me.
“I loved Night of the Creeps”
My eyes widened and my jaws slackened as Ms. Anders stock just shot up several points. “I used to answer my phone that way. ‘Thrill Me’ she laughs.
Were you a Crash Romeo fan before you booked Sheriff Tom?
No. In fact, when you mentioned it to me, I was like ‘holy crap’. It was very random. I was just getting into acting. I got it through a friend of a friend. It’s the sequel to Mary Horror, that he did. So I’m only in like a very small part of that movie. This one little scene where I get cut in half, it’s awesome.
I saw that Robbie Rist was in it, did you get to meet him?
No. It was kind of a ‘naked girl on set’, so there weren’t too many people. I guess they were trying to be polite. Just the needed people.
So, you didn’t meet (Baltimore cult figure and Sheriff Tom Co-star) George Stover?
No, This [Call Girl of Cthulu] is my first production in Baltimore. I mean, I’ve done burlesque there.
Chris LaMartina, [Director of Call Girl of Cthulu] has an impressive body of work, he’s done a lot of television.
Yeah, I just met them, but they’ve[Midnight Crew Productions] been around for a little while. I met Chris, and [producer] Jimmy George. Chris is just great. He’s just so laid back. Everybody was just joking, and it’s funny I’m just here like ‘F--- it, I’m here. I’m gonna have as much fun as I can
Will we see it soon?
It’s still in production, they’re wrapping it up now. I shot my parts the ending of last month.. That’s their whole take on the H.P. Lovecraft thing. It’s gonna be funny. My part is an internet dominatrix that the character keeps coming back to . Basically talking down to him, and humiliating him. I don’t wanna give it away. But, some horrible stuff happens. It’s really funny. I got to keep a prop from the show. You can kind of see right behind me here. … she points behind her to what looks like a pair of what looks like in my low end webcam a pair oflarge paper mache breasts…
No secrets, evil titties.
I love the latex prosthetic I had to wear. and these two people were puppeteering these monster boobs. Where I was supposed to be standing, but I had to lay down on my stomach at this angle, there’s this curtain and pieces hanging down.. And I was laughing hysterically and there was this goo dripping everywhere. I was moving all crazy. Its really funny and sexy and horrible at the same time.… I got to see the playback, and it was pretty cool.
Worst experience from the set?
Nothing really bad. The cold, I guess. I tend to be naked on sets a lot. When we were doing Call Girl, it was like in this abandoned building. It was freezing, freezing cold, and I was standing there freezing, so by the end of the day I was cracking jokes. But when I finally got to the couch I couldn’t stop shaking. But there wasn’t ever anything bad. Everyone was laughing so hard because I kept trying to make a very shy male counterpart as nervous as possible by banging into him.
Zombie Girlfriend; How did you get involved?
That’s just something I did with some lifelong friends. It was for one of their film classes. The makeup was all oatmeal and corn syrup. They were just sticking oatmeal to my face all day.
So, you had like, dogs licking your face all day?
That would have helped actually. [Because] that stuff was hard to get off. It was just sticky all day
Call Girl of Cthulu was crowdfunded, did it seem like a really low budget production?
They tried to spend more money on fx. There’s this huge monster.
I’ve noticed a big rise in the ‘new burlesque.’ I know a bit about the old burlesque(I mention Sally Keith, queen of the tassels. I see recognition.)
Oh yeah, there’s a lot of… we’re both big scifi/horror fans. There’s a lot of new stuff, but there’s definitely a lot that is an homage.
I was in Rigor Mortis Review in 2008, and that’s in Philadelphia. We also do a lot of the tattoo and horror conventions. I started Gruesome Twosome last year in New Jersey. I’m from New Jersey and (Partner) Scarlett is from Phily. We’ve been going a little more north now, we love being on the road, meeting new people.(No shows in California.)
Will you be going on tour?
Yes, we’ve been mostly in New Jersey, but we’ve gone to Philadelphia. We’ve toured with sideshows and stuff.[While she hasn’t seen Freaks, she will be rectifying that as soon as possible]. We do this dance where I’m Jason and she’s[Gruesome Twosome partner Scarlett Storm] a camper. It’s fun and a little campy. We also have one based on Human Centipede.
We did Tromapalooza in 2010. One of my girlfriends did [something based on] Cannibal!: The Musical and I did Poultrygeist. Some of my other girlfriends were in it, one was in the clam suit, and one in the chicken suit, I was one of the Colonel’s Girls in the little army outfit and stuff. We met [Troma’s] Lloyd Kaufman and he was like “I love this show.”
I’m guessing that that he is the way he acts in the videos?
Yep, that’sLloyd.
So, what do you have to say about the overlap of rock and horror?
Rock and horror go together like chocolate and peanut butter. I like thrash metal a lot. And zombies, that’s part of the whole culture.
Who would you say were your role models?
Jenny McCarthy, and that sounds dumb, because she’s this silly girl from MTV I always thought she was so funny and so talented. Fun loving, great sense of humor, can laugh at herself. Every time she was on, I would watch her.
I like the pinup models and stuff. Bettie page, I ‘ve got a huge poster of her.
…she leans again and points to a poster above the piece from Call Girl. The unmistakable lines of Bettie page adorns her wall.
When we were setting up this interview, you informed me that you had a tattoo appointment.
…she shows me the work.
It’s these Futuramaesque Kitty Kat spaceships, you can see. And these little alien kitty kats I drew myself with the three tails. And the ships are beaming them. Scarlett actually has another version of the Kitty Kat ships.
How many do you have?
9 or 10. I have this huge zombie piece on my side. And there’s a big old demon on my thigh blowing smoke and zombies coming out. I’m gonna find a way to pull this all together[she indicates her upper chest] …
The conversation turns to things she likes to do on her downtime. We talk about life in her area. I spent some time in New Jersey as a child. Her face falls when I mention the lack of Tastykakes and Drake’s Cakes.
That sounds horrible. She asks me about the pizza and sandwich situation in CA.
I tell her, and she regales me with tales of subs, hoagies and grinders.
When I got to Philadelphia, I saw it was ‘hoagies’ and I was like ‘What the F---?”
One road story in particular about ‘grinders’ in Kentucky
Every time I leave New Jersey, I realize how spoiled I am. I see the grinders… I don’t know if it was just them or what it was. It was like a smooshed sandwich, like two little pieces of ham, a whole bunch of shredded lettuce, oil and vinegar. Then stepped on it.
She gives a look of disgust. “Don’t F--- my sandwiches.” She says.
What else do you eat, what is your favourite food?
Steak, and Nachos, and Beans. I’ll go to my parent’s house and I will just eat beans, until my parents go “You have to get out. You need to leave now.”
So, what else do you have coming up?
I just filmed with Bill Z. Bub, up in North Jersey. He’s been around for a while, His new project is Indie Director. It’s basically kind of a spoof of the indie… industry? I guess? So my part in that is kind of like(40s comedy duo) Abbot and Costello. Like I go in for this interview, you think everything’s gonna go right. And, when I come to sit, I’ve got everything wrong .It said it in the script. They (The director) said ‘We’re supposed to be doing this’ and ‘you agreed to this’. So, now I’m like ‘diva’. That should be coming out like, next month because he’s trying to get in a film festival in Montreal. Mostly just more [Burlesque] shows
I am a Tromette of the Month for June on their website, although I think it might be pushed back to July. You’ll see me on their website pretty soon.
There’s this one project which is in pause. They’re trying to get more money, which is always the case. For special effects and stuff, I’m supposed to be decapitated in the middle of a baseball field or something.
Do you have a show tonight?
No, I’m off actually. I think I’m gonna ride my bike, I have a motorcycle.
What kind is it?
I ride a big cruiser named "Tankenstein". He's a 1999 Kawasaki Vulcan 800
Well, it was great talking to you, Good luck in the future. From horror fans around the world; break a leg.
It was great talking to you.
