Dead Rising 2
If you're like me, you had a blast in the first Dead Rising while running around a shopping mall, looting and grabbing anything you could use to bash the skulls of the zombie menace. I’m talking about using anything from chainsaws and machine guns to guitars and amplifiers, while wearing anything from the nicest suits all the way to the prettiest dresses. You are doing this while saving survivors, battling psychos, and taking pictures of the odd things you see.
Recently I received Dead Rising 2 for free over XBL Marketplace for being a gold member. I’d tried to play the game before but couldn't get into it for some reason. However, upon my second attempt, I've realized I may love it more than I did the first one.
I've not finished the game yet, but I think it's a better idea to break it into a couple segments. If you wonder why I've decided this, your mind is going way too far. This is my blog thing fuckwad. You're just here to read it and be astounded by my brilliance.
First off, the variety of the weaponry is pretty big over its predecessor, especially given the Combo Card system. That system will allow you to combine certain items with each other to create bad ass murder machines! You are welcome.
The story has also improved, in my opinion, but as I have said before, this is my blog and my opinion is what counts as far as this goes. Though the story of the “Fall of Willamette Colorado” was very well played and we have a better understanding of our main character this time around. Instead of Frank West, Journalist Extraordinaire, you're Chuck Greene, Motocross Badass Supreme.
Chuck's wife was killed in the Las Vegas outbreak prior to Dead Rising 2 and the Mini-Game 'Case Zero'. His daughter was bitten on her arm. Chuck's main purpose is to make sure his daughter Katey, gets her Zombrex, an inoculation created to stave off becoming Undead for 24 hours in hopes he can find her an absolute cure and get her to safety.
He pays for her medicine by competing in a show called Terror is Reality. A game show where the contestants battle hordes of the undead in different and wacky ways in order to score points. TiR is also the online multiplayer mode of the game, aside from playing the main story co-op of course.
The story of DR2 picks up when an outbreak takes place in TiR's latest stop: Fortune City. Chuck and his daughter run from the scene, barely escaping the carnage, to what would become their Safe House.
Along with several other survivors (including the ones you save during your in-game shenanigans), you do what your namesake states. You survive. However, early on in the game, a News Story breaks. Video footage has leaked of the individual who caused the outbreak. But the footage is faked and lands you, Mr. Chuck Greene, smack dab in the middle of Fuckville.
Help arrives in three days. You must prove your innocence before then or spend the rest of your life in prison with no one to take care of poor lil' ole' Katey.
